info

Throughout my O&P journey I have visited a multitude of facilities ranging from large corporation to individually owned facilities. I have had the opportunity to observe, assist, as well as lead evaluations and  the fabrication of devices. I have developed interests in scoliosis, prosthetics, veterinary O&P, and metal bending. I am a quick learner and I'm very open to new ideas and approaches.

O&P
Experience
New Life Brace and Limb
Houston, Tx

June & August 2019

I assisted practitioners and helped in the lab. I assembled TT and TF prostheses (Px) for test socket fitting and assisted final delivery to patients. I measured multiple patients for socket liner size, prosthetic height, and casting. I adjusted the height of the pylon and trim lines on many Px. I helped deliver back braces for hospital calls. I participated in house calls to do test socket fittings, adjustments, repairs, and delivery of Px, which I really enjoyed. I participated in gait analysis, observed gait training, and made the necessary adjustments when needed. I observed the fitting, programming, and delivery of a Myomo myoelectric orthosis (Ox). I delivered and fit off the shelf (OTS) devices with practitioner supervision. I participated in casting and fitting of custom scoliosis braces. I learned about Texas Medicare and Medicaid billing and became proficient in my use of OPIE.

Prosthetic and Orthotic Group
Signal Hill, CA

June-August 2019

I assisted a few practitioners and helped in the lab. I helped treat a house call patient from to start to finish from measuring for a TF test socket to diagnostic fitting, modification, delivery, and gait training for the final Px. I worked with geriatrics and pediatrics. I modified the fit and tread of a few CROW boots, FOs, diabetic shoes, DAFOs, and SMOs. I fit OTS KOs, WHOs, and PLSs. I learned how to calibrate and utilize the STAR scanner for cranial remolding helmets. I learned the research-based parameters for plagiocephaly, scaphocephaly, and brachycephaly. I learned how to measure, scan, order, fit, and adjust cranial remolding helmets. I assisted in casting, ranging, ordering, fitting, and adjusting DAFOs for kids with CP. I assisted at a specialty clinic at one of the local county special education schools. I casted patients for AFOs and molded FOs. I modified FO, FRAFO, AFO, and TTPx plaster models. I sewed straps and skived pads for the practitioners.

July 2019
I worked in the lab and attended patients. In the lab, I pulled, cut out, and smoothed test sockets. I helped laminate and save the alignment on Px. I analyzed gait and helped adjust Px. I visited a nursing home to check on a patient and follow up on their care. I helped do diagnostic fitting of a TF socket for a skin fit ischial containment socket. I learned how to align and program a Genium X3 knee and helped with gait analysis and training. I assisted with myosite testing for a patient that had a TMR surgery for better use of a myoelectric TH Px. I fit patients with OTS dynamic AFOs. I learned about Texas Medicaid and Medicare billing and coding.
Central Texas Orthotics and Prosthetics
Bryan, Tx
2013 - 2017

I assisted mostly in the lab and learned hand skills. I skived pads for the technicians and practitioners. I cut out and smoothed plastic. I poured and modified plaster. I assisted with laminations and plastic pulling. I worked on my undergraduate research project to create an orthosis for a canine valgus deformity here with the assistance of the technicians and practitioners. I observed casting, fitting, and delivery of all types of devices to patients. I riveted, applied pads, sewed straps, and bent some scrap metal.
